Local Businessman Grants a "Wish" to Sick Teenager
Lucas Moad, Butch MulhearnWishes really do come true. Just ask Lucas Moad, a 14 year old from Albany, Missouri, who spends every day of his life on a dialysis machine. After losing both kidneys to disease, he received a transplant from his father four years ago, only to have the disease destroy that kidney as well.
Lucas' wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation was to hunt and kill a buck. In Missouri where he lives, there isn't much opportunity for this as the area is rampant with female does. Local businessman and avid hunter, Butch Mulhearn, heard about this wish from David Sullivan with Buckmasters and decided to make it happen on Davis Island. Butch contacted his friend, Joey Redmond, owner of Ouachita Electric and also a pilot, who volunteered use of his personal plane to pick up Lucas, his brother Brad, and his father Ed for the hunt.
The members of the Davis Island Kellogg Hunting Club should also be commended for allowing Lucas and his family to hunt on the grounds. Not only did he kill a 10-point buck, Lucas also put down a cull as well!
