Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy Graham Barnes, Sr., 66, of West Monroe, LA will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Clark Springs Baptist Church, Highway 546, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Mickey Hudnall officiating. Interment will follow at Clark Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.



Mr. Barnes was born June 8, 1943 in Delhi, LA and passed away along with his special dog, Ripper, on March 5, 2010 in Monroe, LA. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Mr. Barnes was an active member of Clark Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed helping others in the community. He retired from General Motors after 30 years. Mr. Barnes served as Ouachita Parish Constable, Ward 7, for 12 years and was also a Deputy Marshal for the City of West Monroe for 22 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Barnes.



He was a loving husband, an outstanding father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Barnes enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandsons, leather working, was an active member of the NRA. He especially loved traveling with his wife. Mr. Barnes also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Ripper, whether at home or traveling.



He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myrna Kay Norton Barnes; children, Thomas Lee Bont, Jr. and wife, Angela of Hickory Creek, TX, Jimmy Graham Barnes, Jr. of West Monroe, LA, Cheryl Ann Barnes Hogue and husband Kenny of Springdale, AR, Cyndia Kay Bont of Corinth, TX, Dawn Marie Bont Hodges of West Monroe, LA, Tracie Lynn Barnes Lenard and husband Phillip of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Brandy Brown, Jonathon Bont, Megan Barnes, Kirsten Barnes, Skylar Barnes, Katie Hogue, Nicki Hogue, Jacob Hogue, Morgan Bont, P. J. Hodges, Heather Hodges, Ronnie Lenard, Jesse Lenard, Brian Lenard, Jim Clark, Brittney Clark; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine Covington and Ricky Lancaster and her husband Wallace; special daughter-in-law, Shelley Sawyer Barnes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.



Pallbearers will be Thomas L. Bont, Jr., Jimmy G. Barnes, Jr., Bruce Covington, Ray Miller, Pete McClusky, and Larry Shepleman. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Matt Maddox.



Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, March 8, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.



A second visitation will be 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Clark Springs Baptist Church in West Monroe.



He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
