Funeral services for Mr. Buddy Harrelson of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Jon Tellifero and Rev. Marla Munn officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Mr. Harrelson passed away on September 28, 2009 at 10:15 PM. He was 87 years old. He was a WW II veteran, an honor Marine of his platoon and was stationed in Hawaii in 1944. Mr. Harrelson was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of West Monroe and managed Foremost Dairies in Shreveport and West Monroe until he retired. He was active in the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and the United Way. He was also a Masonic Mason. While president of the West Monroe Chamber of Commerce, he was instrumental in forming the West Monroe Boy’s Club. After his retirement, he pursued his hobby of rose growing and he succeeded in winning many awards in the National and Regional Rose Society exhibitions. Mr. Harrelson’s friends and family say he was one of the most honest men they had ever known.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred Yvonne Causey Harrelson; his daughters, Beverly Forester and husband Jay and Twyla Smith and husband David; his son, Andrew T. Harrelson, Jr. and wife Kathy; his 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, two brothers, Eugene and William Harrelson. 

Mr. Harrelson’s pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of West Monroe Building Fund.
