Funeral Service for Alonzo Benjamin Jr., 82, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Christian Life Church in Monroe, LA, with Pastor Danny Chance officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Benjamin was born on November 12, 1932 and passed away on May 23, 2015 at his residence in Monroe, LA. Mr. Benjamin was a retired operator with Gaylord Bags (Graphic Packaging). He served in the United States Army. Mr. Benjamin was an avid sports fan. He loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. In his retirement he worked shining shoes. Mr. Benjamin loved his family especially his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Brown Benjamin; daughter, Florida McSwain and husband, Audie; son, Alonzo Benjamin III and wife, Linda; daughter, Rebecca Benjamin; son, Andre` Benjamin and wife, Renita; daughter, Felicia Benjamin; daughter, Monica Benjamin; and son, Eric Benjamin; fifty-six grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins and friends.Mr. Benjamin’s Nephews will serve as Pallbearers. His sons and grandsons will be Honorary Pallbearers.
