Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Ware, age 91, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October
31, 2009 at Cedar Baptist Church in Archibald, Louisiana with Reverend Mike Loveday officiating.
Interment will follow at Rayville Masonic Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held
Friday, October 30, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville,
Louisiana.
“Miss” Pearl lived 91 precious years as a devoted and loved mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother. She was born on May 10, 1918 in West Carroll Parish, and died October 29, 2009 in
Rayville, Louisiana. Miss Pearl was a near life long resident of Richland Parish, graduated from
Delhi High School, and attended Ouachita Parish Junior College, prior to it becoming Northeast
State College.
She married Terry Ford Ware on February 4, 1937 in Smith County, Mississippi. She
returned to Dehlco, Louisiana where the couple owned and operated a grocery store during their
early years. Prior to her husband’s death in 1975, they owned multiple agriculture related businesses
including cotton gins, feed mills, implement dealerships and livestock auctions.
Miss Pearl was a devoted Christian and student of the Bible. She was a charter member of
Cedar Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for over 50 years. She
loved traveling, especially to the Holy Land, to which she made 11 trips. She was an avid gardener
and loved writing poetry, publishing two books during her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ford Ware and son Buddy Ware and his wife
Linda, son Joseph Charles Ware, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Dee Bruce, and her siblings Bernice
Yelverton, Marie Lynn, Wilma Holman, Jean Boughton, Jimmy Bruce, and Billy Bruce. Miss Pearl
is survived by her daughter Jenny Doughty of Rayville, her son Jim Ware and wife Carolyn of
Weatherford, Texas; six grandchildren: Judge Terry Doughty, David Doughty, Dana Dixon, Lisa
Beard, Lora Head and Amy Pyles; thirteen great-grandchildren: Lauren Mullett, Matthew Doughty,
Bradford Doughty, James Doughty, Caroline Doughty, Mary Margaret Dixon, Jon-Thomas Dixon,
Tyler Beard, Rachel Head, Katie Head, Mallory Head, Sophie Moon and Landry Pyles, brother-inlaw
Alfred Boughton, sisters-in-law Billie Ware and Sarah Ware Sager, and devoted friends Faye
and Wendell Shoemaker. Pallbearers are Judge Terry Doughty, David Doughty, Jeff Dixon, David
Head, Greg Beard, and Sammy Pyles. Honorary Pallbearers are Floyd Boughton, Alvin Lane,
Herman Grant, Sr., Jerry R. Roberts, Lynn Copeland, A. O. Doughty, Jr., and Alfred Boughton.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Hubbard for the compassionate care of their
mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Cedar Baptist Church.
