Funeral services for Anne R. Gannaway, 87, of Monroe, LA will be Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Hwy 80 E, Monroe, with the Rev. JoAnn Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Miss Gannaway passed from this life early Thursday morning after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Gannaway; her siblings, R. Leslie Gannaway, Guy Gannaway Sr., Mildred Gannaway, and Billy Gannaway and by her foster sister, Louise Tarpley.

Miss Gannaway was born in Monroe, LA, May 15, 1920. After graduating from college, she joined the Navy during WWII and was responsible for instrument flight training for many Naval pilots. After the war, she returned home and obtained her Master's Degree and Plus 30 in education, attending both LA Tech and LSU. Miss Gannaway taught math and history at Jack Hayes Elementary, Ouachita Jr. High and Ouachita High School for nearly 40 years. She was very highly regarded by her students and fellow teachers. She played and loved to watch both tennis and golf.

Miss Gannaway was a life long member of First United Methodist Church of Monroe. She was also a member of Eastern Star.

She will be missed and is survived by her nieces and nephews; Guy Gannaway Jr., Terry Gannaway, Milann Gannaway, Gary Gannaway, Gay G. Brantley, Jan G. Blankenship, Judy G. Willis, Leslie G. Calhoun, Bill Gannaway and Bob Gannaway. She also had many friends and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mulhearn's on Sterlington Road.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Miss Gannaway's long-time sitters, Ruby Chatham, Mary Anthony, and Gretchen Weidman, for their loving and patient care. They also want to thank the North Louisiana War Veterans Home staff for their kind and excellent care.
