Austin was born on January 3, 1946 to the union of Glover and Mildred Eubanks. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 20, 2021 after a long battle with dementia.

Austin grew up in Caldwell Parish where he graduated from high school in 1965. He loved all sports but excelled at baseball. As an All-State outfielder, he was drafted out of high school by the Colt 45’s (Houston Astros). Being the family man that he was, Austin chose family over baseball. After his own father had passed, Austin stayed home to help his mother care for his four siblings. He has truly been a sheltering tree and strong support for his family.

Austin went on to work as an exemplary and trusted employee of Entergy for 40 years. He retired in 2008 but still returned to help with hurricanes and other emergencies when he could.

Christian Life Church was a blessing to Austin and he was a blessing to them. He was a long time member and helped often in the Children’s Sunday School. He was often found on the baseball and softball fields coaching his son and daughter and countless boys and girls in the community. Later, he was cheering on his grandsons and granddaughters. “PawPaw” loved to follow his grands from ball fields, dance recitals, band concerts, fishing or just a long walk in the woods to talk.

Austin was preceded in death by his parents Glover Eubanks and Mildred Cox Eubanks: two sisters, Ann Smith and Georgie Crain; and niece, Theresa Cubbit.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Ford Eubanks. Grandma and Pawpaw were a true picture of love and devotion. Austin leaves a brother, Donnie Eubanks and sister, Mollie Eubanks Redden (Ervin). Left to carry his legacy is his son, Chris Eubanks (Bonnie) and daughter, Paula Eubanks Wright (Jason). And the lights of his life, apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Masie Eubanks Tolar (Lucas), Maggie Eubanks, Phillip Brinson and Jacob Brinson. Austin has a great grandson due in Spring. A number of nieces and nephews will always remember the love of Uncle Austin.

Pall bearers will be Stephen Clark, Jay George, Ricky Harris, Harold McGrew, Lucas Tolar, Dr. Bob Webber and Greg Wilkes. Honorary pall bearers are Claven Shipp, Tim Free, Dennis Free, Noah Pepper, Phillip Brinson and Jacob Brinson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Life Church, Monroe, LA.
