A funeral service celebrating the life, faith and witness of Benny Belton Bellue, 85, of Monroe will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road. Reverend Brian Mercer and Reverend Shawn Hornsby will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetary under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
After a lengthy illness, he passed from this earth to his heavenly home on April 23, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born in Amite County, Mississippi to Carl and Maggie Bellue on November 27, 1935. His family moved to Bogalusa, Louisiana, when he was nine years old. Benny graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1954 and served nine years in the Army National Guard.
Benny began working in the paper industry at Crown-Zellerbach mill. He married his wife of 64 years, Ann Winters, in 1957. Later they moved to Silsbee, Texas, to work at East Texas Pulp and Paper. He then moved to Pineville, Louisiana, to start up a new mill, Pineville Kraft, which later became International Paper. Benny retired from his position as Maintenance Superintendent. After retiring, he and Ann moved to Monroe to be near family.
Benny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was also a devoted and active member of the churches he belonged to. He served in many areas and loved volunteering. A short term mission trip to Russia and Latvia, the year after communism fell, was the highlight of his volunteer work.
Benny’s kind, loving nature and dry-wit will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; baby brother, Emerald Dewitt Bellue; sisters, Patsy Bellue and Betty Roussell.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ann; sisters, Carlene Jenkins, Naomi Rawls of Bogalusa, LA; brother, Don Bellue (Shirley) Baton Rouge, LA; sister-in-law, Geri Simmons, Covington, LA; daughter, Lisa McKeithen (Steve); son, Scott Bellue (Julie) of Roswell, GA; five grandsons, Christopher Johnson (Courtney), Matthew Johnson (Rebecca), Chad Johnson (Keri), Joshua Bellue, Noah Bellue of Roswell, GA; Seven great-grandchildren, Blaine Johnson, Lola Kate Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Anna Michael Johnson, Emma Lou Johnson, soon to arrive twins, Amelia and Brooks Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers will be Christopher Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Chad Johnson, Stanley Johnson, Brad Martin and Richard Haneline. Honorary pall bearers will be members of Methodist Menders.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Road, Monroe, LA 71201 or charity of your choice.
