Funeral services for Beverly Sue Stevens, 77, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Solomon and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Stevens passed away Monday, September 21, 2009. She was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and Northeast Louisiana State College. Mrs. Stevens was a member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Pastor’s Sunday School Class. She was a talented artist who had a passion for ceramics, as well as painting acrylic and oil. Mrs. Stevens had a loving and giving spirit who freely gave numerous hours of volunteer work with her church. She had a genuine concern for others and was devoted to her family. Beverly Sue was a loving Wife, Mother, Nanny, and Mamaw.

Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil J. Stevens, who was a retired Chief Deputy with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Survivors include her children, Hope Stevens Carroll and husband Bob of York, PA, Sharon Stevens of Monroe, LA, Toni Stevens Collins of Monroe, LA, and Jay Stevens and wife Tammy of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Jenni Carroll, Brad Carroll and wife Dawn, Payne Collins, and Brody Stevens; and one great grandson, Harris Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Jay Stevens, Payne Collins, Tim Hardin, Layne Buffington, Waine Self, and Joe Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Brody Stevens and Brad Carroll, and members of Pastor's Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe and Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to her loving care giver, Princess, who has been with her over the last several months and to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office for providing the escort for the service.
