Services for Burrell Riley Newman, 71, of Calhoun, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday October 31, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Burial will be in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Mr. Newman was a member of the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe. He was a caring and compassionate person and had a great sense of humor. Mr. Newman’s favorite passions were fox hunting and the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his children, Jeff Newman and wife Sandy, Karen Laban and husband Richard, Julia Vestal and husband Donnie; granddaughters, Megan Vestal, Amanda Rainier and husband Brad; great grandchild, Madison Rainier; brother, Willard Newman and wife Jeri; sisters, Curtistine Copes and husband Clayton, Annette Stansbury and husband Basil; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Russell Greer, Mac McCullough, Larry Smith, Troy Sandifer, Roland Johnson, and Rob Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Tommy Williams.
Visitation will from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday October 30, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Memorials may be made to New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
