Charles Richard Lockwood Charles Richard Lockwood was born on June 13, 1941 in Lillie, LA to Leo and Lorene Lockwood. He married Bettie Sutton on July 28, 1961 and together they raised 5 sons. Charles loved his work, which included several different occupations. He served on the City of Monroe Fire Department from which he retired as District Chief after 31 years of service. He also was the founder of Lockwood & Sons Construction and Lockwood Trucking. It was not until he suffered from his heart problems that he adjusted his work schedule to a slower pace.When Charles wasn’t working, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle or driving one of the antique cars that he collected. His family was very important to him throughout the years. He took great delight in watching his grandchildren play ball and run through the house. Even later in years, he had the privilege of seeing his great grandchildren learn to take their first steps. Charles loved to attend family reunions, which always brought a smile to his face. Charles attended North Monroe Baptist Church where he was involved in a Lifegroup. Mr. Lockwood was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lorene Lockwood; brother, Edward Earl Lockwood; and granddaughter, Lauren Marie Lockwood. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bettie Marie Lockwood; brother, William Hubert Lockwood and wife Debbie of West Monroe, LA; sister in law, Dot Lockwood of Rayville, LA; sons, Richard Lockwood and wife Eva; Eddie Lockwood and wife Teresa; Danny Lockwood and wife Laurie; Ronnie Lockwood and wife Roxanne; and Larry Lockwood and partner Terry Ford; grandchildren, Trey Lockwood and wife Lindsey of Georgetown, TX; Blake and wife Kristy; Ryan and wife Kandice; Cody Lockwood; Dillon Lockwood; Allyson and husband Justin Black of Katy, TX; Taylor Lockwood; Shelly Lockwood; and great grandchildren, Kooper Lockwood; Sarah Jane Lockwood of Georgetown TX; Gracie Lockwood; Emmie Lockwood; Read Lockwood of Georgetown TX; and Cam Lockwood The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mer Rouge Cemetery.Pallbearers will be his grandsons Trey, Ryan, Taylor, Blake, Cody and Dillon Lockwood.Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M Monday, June 6, 2016 at North Monroe Baptist Church.Arrangements under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
