Clara Jane Jones

Memorial Services for Mrs. Clara Jane Long Jones, 89, of Monroe, LA, will be 12:00 PM Saturday, June 5, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. R. B. Moore and Bishop Mike Lowry officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday, June 5, 2021, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jones was born to the union of William I. and Eulellie Long in Carthage, MO on March 4, 1931 and passed away on February 13, 2021. She lived in Carthage until she was 11 years old. When the war started, her family moved to Jacksonville, AR, where they worked at the Arkansas Ordinance Works. After the war, they moved to Maplewood, LA, where her father went to work for Cities Service refinery. She finished high school at Sulphur High in 1948. It was at this time she met her future husband as they went to the same high school. After graduating, she went to Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women’s University). After graduating with a BS degree in Clothing and Textiles and a minor in Chemistry in 1952. She married Rosco Jones in August 1952 and they went to Schenectady, NY, where Rosco worked for General Electric. In May 1954, she moved to Aberdeen, MD to be with her husband who was in the Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. After that, they moved to Roanoke, VA, where her husband was working with GE. Another move with GE brought them to Cincinnati, OH, where they lived until 1962, when they moved to Monroe, LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rosco Jones; granddaughter, Tori Luce; and great-grandson, Parker Luce.

Survivors include daughters, Jacquelyn Marie Hendrick (Robert), Barbara Jane Luce (Tom) of Shreveport, LA; son, William Rosco Jones (Sarah) of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Walter Hendrick, Stephen Hendrick, Matthew Luce (Jessie), and Emily Ann Jones; great-grandchildren, Cooper Matthew Luce and Avery Mae Luce; and sister-in-law, Una Englehart and her children.

Mrs. Jones was active in the United Methodist Women for many years, she worked with the Daycare center at ULM with the support of the Wesley Foundation. She worked with Christian Community Ministries and supported numerous missions of St. Paul’s. She was a loving mother and wife and was a true believer in our Lord and will be missed by all.
