Clarence "Sonny" Russell

February 17, 1953 — August 24, 2021

Funeral services for Clarence “Sonny” Russell, 68, of Bosco, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Bosco Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Balch officiating. Interment will follow at Bosco Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the church.

Mr. Russell was born February 17, 1953, in Rayville, LA, and passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in Columbia, LA.

Sonny was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant. Even though he was disabled he never let it get him down. He almost always had a smile. Through the love and support of family and friends, Sonny had a good life. He was a member of Bosco Baptist Church and attended school at the Northeast Louisiana School for the disabled where he learned to read, do math, type using his head and, according to his mama, “how to talk dirty.” In his early years, Sonny loved talking on his CB radio as “Shotgun Rider.” He attended many CB jamborees. Sonny loved hunting, fishing, going to concerts, listening to his radio, sitting outside and above all else just hanging out with his family and friends. He also loved the ladies, just ask anyone who knew him. There is so much more we could say about our Sonny. So, in the words of Sonny himself, “I had a good life, yea, yea a good life.”

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Maudie Stephens; his parents, Pete and Jackie Russell; his aunt, Bobbie; uncles, Polley, Fred, Jr., Leon, Huey; and numerous cousins.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his brother, Matt and wife Jennifer; niece, Ariel; nephew, T.J.; aunt, Peggy; special cousin, James; his sisters in Christ, Sharon, Angie, Stacy; brothers in Christ, Duke, Jason, Kimble; as well as numerous cousins, family and close friends. Sonny also leaves behind 19 extended family, nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Sonny very much and he loved them.

Pallbearers will be James Lee, Duke Mulder, Jason Duncan, Possum Duke, Shayne Ross, and Josh Mulder.

We would like to thank everyone for all the love, support, and prayers. We would also like to thank the staff at Citizens Medical Center.
