Clyde H Jordan, Jr. (Dede / C. H.), Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, friend and servant to so many in the North Louisiana area, departed to join his Lord and Savior on Christmas day, December 25th, 2007. Clyde was with his family during a Christmas visit in Ft. Worth, Texas and spent his final days with the family that cherished him so much. Vera Moates Jordan (Meme) his devoted wife and best friend, whom he loved so much, was by his side as she has been for 68 years.
Clyde was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana May 3rd, 1919, son of Clyde H. Jordan Sr. and Lessie Teddlie Jordan. Clyde and Vera have three sons, Clyde and his wife, Trudie, Bryan and his wife, Jo, and Mark; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; sister, Betty Jordan; brother, Edward Jordan, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Clyde was a graduate of Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, LA. He supported the WW II efforts as an Electronics Instructor and a Radar Engineer for Philco Corporation. He developed, installed, and flight checked some of the first Air and Naval Radar Systems and provided training to our Armed Forces.
Clyde was part owner of the original McKee Radio Shop. He was an active Boy Scout Leader, Lions Club Member, and served on the Louisiana Radio License Board.
Clyde was an instructor and administrator at the Delta Ouachita Vocational and Technical Schools and served as Assistant Director for several years. He retired after 33 years of devoted service.
As a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe since 1945, he taught the Upper Room Sunday School class, served as chairman of the Administrative Board and the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Finance Committee, the New Building Committee, the Fellowship Class and the Choir. As the District Lay Leader, he was active on the Conference Board of Laity. He was also active on the Conference Board of Discipleship and was the 1000 Club Director for the Monroe district and local church. He was a member of Centenary College Council and the Caney Camp Board.
But to his friends, family and church he was “Mister Fix-it” and we all know heaven will be running a lot smoother now that Clyde has joined his Savior.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 29, 2007 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Ricky Willis, Rev. Robert Peyton, Dr. Spiller Milton, and Rev. William Peeples officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA
Pallbearers will be John Jordan, Jared Jordan, Boyce Butler, John Graham, Randy Allen, and Newt Briggs.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Don Hammett, Dr. Robbie Marx , Dr. Fred Marx, and all members of the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, La.
