Memorial Services for David Brian “Nikki Jones” Smith, 43, of New Orleans, LA formerly of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 27, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Johnny Smith officiating.
Nikki was born in Monroe, LA on February 4, 1967 and passed away at his home in New Orleans, LA after a lengthy battle with diabetes. He was a singer, songwriter and an early contestant on tv’s, Star Search. He entertained locally for the Miss Louisiana Pageant, but spent many years living between Hollywood, CA and New Orleans, LA. Nikki’s voice truly was a gift, and he also had a passion for interior decorating.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sue and Norman Dodd; brother, Donovan Smith; father and step-mother, Ted and Nancy Smith; half brothers, Heath and Josh Smith; grandparents, Ada Duffey, Lloyd and Violet Duffey; longtime caregiver and special friend, Pete Romero; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
