Funeral services for Dr. Lloyd Neil Glawe, 85, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 24, 2018, at First Christian Church, Monroe, LA, with Rev. Craig Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Dr. Glawe was born August 21, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, and passed away February 21, 2018, at his home in Monroe, Louisiana. Dr. Glawe received his Bachelor’s degree in Geology at the University of Illinois and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in Geology. He was a professor from 1964 until his retirement in 2005 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Over the decades, Dr. Glawe made important contributions in the understanding of the paleo environment of the Wilcox Formation, an important oil and gas formation in the Gulf Coast Region. He was a member of Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies and First Christian Church.
Dr. Glawe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Royer Glawe; sisters, Betty Magee and Peggy Nichols.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Gholson Glawe; daughter, Lori (Jeff) Adams; son, John (Stacey) Glawe; grandchildren, Anastasia Glawe and Sean Adams.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, February 23, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
