Memorial services for Dr. Stanley R. Mintz, 87, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 3, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Gregg Riley and Rabbi David Kline officiating. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
 
 
Dr. Stanley R. Mintz, a resident of Monroe since 1933, graduated from Neville High School in 1937 and proceeded to Tulane University for his B.S. and M.D. degrees. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an Army physician. Upon discharge from the Army, he served his residency in Anesthesiology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and returned to Monroe in 1948 to organize and direct the Anesthesiology Department of St. Francis Hospital. In 1956, he introduced private practice of Anesthesiology, continuing as director, and founded Anesthesia Associates. In 1980, as an assistant professor, he helped organize the Anesthesia Department at LSU Regional Medical Center in Monroe. He retired in 1990.
 
He served as president of the Ouachita Medical Society, 5th District Medical Society, Northeast Louisiana Health Planning Council, and Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists. He also served on the boards of Louisiana State Health Planning Council, Louisiana State Medical Society, Temple B’Nai Israel, Ouachita Council on Aging, Masur Museum of Arts, and Advisory Council of Lifeshare Blood Center.
 
His interests were love of family, golf, hunting, fishing, art, and regular bridge and poker games with old friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Gallagher Mintz.
 
Survivors include his children, Steve Mintz, Andy Mintz and wife Becky, Ellen Mintz, and Mary Theus and husband Ed; grandchildren, Charlotte, Ben, Joanie, Will, Blair, Brandon, Stanton, Ken, and Ellen; beloved friend, Alberta Hester.
 
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ouachita Council on Aging, Lifeshare Blood Center, Food Bank, Temple B’Nai Israel, or the charity of your choice.
