Mrs. Earlene MayMulhearn Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LAFuneral Services for Mrs. Earlene May, 87, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Burdeaux officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and church member. She was devoted to her husband, Hollis through 65 years of marriage until his death in 2010. She lived to see 4 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters that were the light of her life in her later years. They lived in Caldwell Parish during the first years of their marriage. When Hollis got a job at the paper mill they moved to West Monroe, that’s when she joined Trinity Church. She loved her church family and was a well-loved Sunday school teacher for many years.In their later years together, after their kids were grown with families of their own, they moved to their final home on Mathis Rd. and joined Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. They were active at Mt. Vernon until age slowed them down. They appreciated and loved their many friends at Mt. Vernon Church.After Hollis passed away, Earlene stayed active in their church especially with her Sunday school ladies who went to eat together almost every Sunday. She greatly appreciated this group of friends and their Chaperone, David Hollenshead. Earlene is preceded in death by her husband, Hollis May; parents, Ervin and Evelyn Thigpen; son-in-law, Printes Waggoner, Jr.; sisters, Ruth May and Maxine May; and brother, Bennie Thigpen.Survivors include her daughter, Margaret May Waggoner; son, Donald May and wife Shere; grandsons, Chris Waggoner and wife Joann; Brandon May, Brent May and wife Amanda; granddaughter, Kim Wickham and husband Jeff; great-granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Waggoner, Bryleigh Elizabeth Wickham, Tracee Lucille Wickham, and Aly Lea May; sister-in-law, Mae Thigpen; brother-in-law, Theo May; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.Pallbearers will be Keith Stephens, Buddy Tarver, Mike Eady, Rich Jacobs, Gary Foster, and Bo Wilkes. Honorary Pallbearers will be Glenn Suggs, Kevin Telano, and David Hollenshead.Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Friday, May 22, 2015 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.The family wishes to express special thanks to Mama’s special earthly angels who made her last days more bearable by sitting with her and loving her: Janice Beard, Ethel Craft, Sue Allen, Attie Brinson, and others.
