Ernest died December 13, 2020 at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe after a brief illness.

Ernest, or as many knew him, ET, was a joy to all and never met a stranger. Ernest loved his family and friends unconditionally and left them with many memories and stories that will live on for years. He loved all things "superhero" but he was our superhero. ET loved to dance and play the air guitar especially at family crawfish boils and weddings. He taught us the true meaning of compassion, how to be loyal, and how to laugh and have fun. He was loved greatly and will be missed. When things were out of his control, he can be quoted as saying "Oh Well!"

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Wade Thompson.

Survivors include Mother, Mrs. Jackie Russell Thompson; Sisters, Kathleen George and husband, Marty, Charmaine McGuffee and husband, Todd, Alicia Minter and husband, Joel; Nieces, Erin Easterling, Hannah Zaunbrecher, Rachel Willis, Sarah Minter, and Jewell McGuffee; Nephews, Daniel George, Matthew George, Andrew McGuffee, Sam McGuffee, and Ben Minter; Aunts, Suzanne Aucoin, Belva Ryan, and Carolyn Melder.

Memorials may be made to Family & Friends of G.B. Cooley, 210 Dupont Drive, West Monroe, LA 71291 or ARCO, 901 North 4th Street, Monroe, LA 71201.

The men of Cedar house and the many employees of G. B. Cooley have been like a second family to Ernest. His life has been enriched by so many wonderful people there. The family would like to thank each and every one of them for such great care, love and friendship over these years.
