Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Duke Chatham, 70, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Monroe with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Chatham, a retired elementary school teacher, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008, following a lengthy illness. She was a graduate of Ouachita High School class of 1956, and a graduate of NLU. She was a loving wife and mother. Evelyn was a gregarious fun loving lady who never met a stranger and brightened every room she entered. She had as many friends as there are stars in the sky and considered them all a part of her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Thomas Chatham; daughter, Dr. Shelly Chatham McCormick and husband David of Monroe; and brother-in-law, Charles Chatham and wife Carol of Royal, AR.
Pallbearers will be the members of the Tuesday morning prayer group of First Baptist Church, Mark Saterfield, Chris Allums, Adam Bricker, and Terry Slawson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Monroe.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Larry Olinde and all the sweet patient staff at Renal Associates.
