Floy married the love of her life Lt. Carl Stevenson on February 1, 1943. They were happily wed for sixty-two years, until his death in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Mae and Alvie Wallace; her husband, Carl Stevenson, her sisters, Fay Wallace Saucer and husband Jack, Jean Wallace Hammons, and June Wallace.

Floy is survived by her children, Carl “Mike” Stevenson and his wife, Jeanette, Anne Stevenson Cookston and her husband Cookie, Janet Stevenson Mathews and her husband James; brother in law, Lester Hammons; grandchildren, Claire Stevenson Reijerse and husband David, Audrey Stevenson Weidner and husband Scott, Michael Paul Stevenson, Sarah Cookston Cohen and husband David, Steven Cavitt Cookston and wife Lisa, Susan Ashley Cookston, Catherine Cookston Leake, Jacob Walter Mathews and wife Kasi and Rebecca Mathews Walkinshaw and husband Sean; great-grandchildren, Tousley Anne Leake, Jacob Wallace Cohen, Elizabeth Perkins Leake, Lucille Elizabeth Cookston, Harrison Grant Cohen, William Cavitt Cookston, Sarah Catherine Leake, Lily Elizabeth Cohen, Benjamin Wallace Weidner, Dylan Leander Felix Reijerse, Alexander Verspoor Weidner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Floy was the consummate wife, mother, and homemaker, who took great pride in her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.
After retiring from a teaching career of twenty years, she enjoyed owning and operating a retail shop in Baton Rouge. In 1985 she opened Antiques & Such in West Monroe, then in 1996 she reorganized the shop to become COCO’S

Her legacy lives on today through her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. FeeFoy, as she was affectionately known by her family, was always positive, kind and encouraging. Her sweet spirit will be dearly missed; she will remain in our hearts forever.

The family wishes to thank Stoneybrook Memory Care, First Choice Hospice, Carolyn Bahm, Jean New, and Evangeline Worthy for their excellent care and love.
