Glen F. Perkins, age 71, of Monroe, passed away June 20, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospital. Visitation for Glen F. Perkins will be Tuesday, June 23, 2015, between 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home located on 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Funeral services will also be held at Mulhearn Funeral Home, beginning at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015, with Reverend Michael Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 451 Highway 151 N., in Calhoun, Louisiana. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Glen Perkins graduated from West Monroe High School. After high school he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University. He worked in the insurance industry eventually beginning his own business, Perkins Insurance Agency Inc, which he operated until he retired. Glen was known for his larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. He mastered the art of conversation! He enjoyed riding horses, fishing and being outdoors. He loved music, spending time with his children and grandchildren and visiting with friends over coffee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Velma Perkins. He is survived by his Wife, Margaret Rea Perkins; Children: Rebecca Rea Perkins DeLaSalle, Stephen Glen Perkins, Michael Glen Perkins, Jason Glen Perkins and Jessica Marie Perkins Hunnicutt; Grandchildren: Ragini “Brooke Noel” DeLaSalle, Bridgett Nicole DeLaSalle, Taylor Ann Perkins, Adalyn Kate Perkins, Maston Alexander Perkins, Evangeline Brea Perkins, Norah Margaret Perkins, Ayden Scott Ellard and Ashton Cole Ellard; and Siblings, Evelyn Perkins Barnett and Annabelle Perkins Owens. Pallbearers will be Stephen Glen Perkins, Michael Glen Perkins, Jason Glen Perkins, Christopher Brad DeLaSalle, Keith Hunnicutt, and Peter Watzek. Honorary Pallbearers are John Rea and Jim Thomas. The family expresses gratitude for the medical care provided to Glen Perkins over the years to Dr. Michael Archie and his medical staff at Northeast Louisiana Kidney Associates; the physicians and medical staff of the Ochsner Health System, St. Francis Hospital and Glenwood Regional Medical Center. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Donald Hammett, Dr. Ronald Hammett, Nurse Ginny and the entire staff of Cornerstone Hospital who gave Glen wonderful end-of life-care and his last coca-cola.
