Funeral Services for Mr. Glenn D. Wilson, 66, of Downsville, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

On Sunday, May 23, 2010, Glenn D. Wilson, known by many as “Cap’n”, lost his heroic battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord. Glenn was born on May 29, 1943 to Berry W. and Elsie Bratton Wilson in Kelly, Louisiana. He retired from Graphic Packaging in 2007 after working there for 41 years. He was most recently employed by R S H Engineering. He was a member and deacon of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Glenn was a hard worker and liked to stay busy. He loved to help anybody in need. He was an avid fisherman who loved to fish on D’Arbonne Lake. He was loved by many and delighted in joking and making people laugh.

Glenn proudly served in the Army from 1966 through 1969. He completed Officer Candidate School in 1967 and eventually earned the rank of Captain, of which he was very proud. After his service in the Army, he and his wife made their home in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Glenn leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Donna McCain Wilson; daughters, Angie Ryan and husband, Patrick; Kelly Medaries and husband, Jared; brother, Barry Wilson and wife Hermie and Tyler Medaries - his grandson and pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and sister, Rhonda Moss.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Landry, Joe Harper, Ira Whittington, Henry Parks, Sam Roberson and Eudell Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Diamond and Bart Wheat.

Special thanks to Jennia Adams of Louisiana Hospice for her kindness and excellent care.

Memorial donations can be made to the Earl and Jane Williams Scholarship Fund at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church; the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
