Henry Bateman

It is with sorrow and joy that we come together to honor the life of Henry Bateman. He changed our lives, he charmed us with his humor, he astounded us with his knowledge, and amazed us with his generosity and his endless compassion for others. It was such an honor to know him. We are changed forever.

Fly high, dear one, fly high.

A Celebration of Life ceremony for Mr. Henry Bateman, 67, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3706 Bon Aire Dr., Monroe, LA, with Rev. Dawnell Stodghill officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Mr. Bateman was born January 7, 1954, in Frankfurt, Germany, and passed away May 31, 2021, at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport, LA.

Mr. Bateman was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Board of Directors of Families Helping Families, Twin City Mayor’s Committee on Disabilities, and was an Episcopal Vespor.

Henry lived and worked with a servant’s heart. Throughout his adult life, individuals with disabilities benefited from his heart’s desire to serve. It was who he lived to be and was felt by all who knew him.

Henry was the treasurer of the Twin City Mayor’s Committee on Disabilities and contributed greatly to the success of that committee. He promoted scholarships to promote education and was proud of the accomplishments of this committee.

Families Helping Families is about serving individuals with disabilities, which was right up Henry’s alley. He faithfully served this organization starting from its inception and for many years after. Henry was our hero.

Henry’s life was full and productive. He enjoyed fellowship and once he had “rolled” into your life he was hard to forget.

Mr. Bateman was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Forrest Bateman, and mother, Elizabeth Benton Bateman.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bateman; brother, Curt B. Bateman and wife Hazel T. Bateman; nieces, Madison M. Bateman and Hannah K. Bateman; as well as many other loving nieces and nephews who Henry cherished.
