Funeral services for Mr. J. L. Rea will be 10:00AM Thursday August 20, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Reeves & Rev. Bubba Hoggatt officiating. Nephew Dale Mercer will give a eulogy. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA.J.L Rea passed away peacefully Monday, August 17, 2015 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife and children. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Syble, and two children, Wanda Hendrix (husband-Dale) of Mandeville, La and Kevin Rea (wife-Kristy) of Naples, FL. He also leaves behind three adoring grandchildren, Victoria Hendrix, Tyler Rea, and Peyton Rea; sister Vivian Hall (husband-Ed), and many close friends and extended family members.He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Pearlie Otwell Rea, and sister Hazel Rea Tubbs.He was a quiet man, kind and gentle. He had a warm smile for everyone. He was the one who held the door open for you, offered you his seat, or left space for you to change lanes in traffic. He was the one who made your day a little brighter by crossing his path. J.L.’s love of family was expressed in his encouragement for them and the pride he showed in their accomplishments.J.L was a veteran of the Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was born July 29, 1934 in Union Parish. J.L and Syble raised their family primarily in West Monroe, spending seven years in Houston, TX when their children were young. He retired in from Pump Services, Inc. where he worked as a machinist. His passions included spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Pallbearers will be nephews & close friends.
