Steadily slipping away from his loved ones he journeyed home March 23, 2008.
Funeral services for James E. Allbritton will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Robbie Robison and Rev. Rick Crandall officiating. Burial will follow at Hasley Cemetery under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.

Mr. Allbritton was born November 15, 1922 in Parkdale, Arkansas. He was a building construction and concrete foundation contractor. He served as deacon in church and showed his love for God and his church by doing lots of remodeling. Mr. Allbritton spent many hours working on the “Old Parsonage”, little house (office) and the gym. You could see his handiwork in the stage props or whatever for Georgia Savoie’s great musical productions. He was active in mission trips. One mission was planned and “Preacher Savoie said if James doesn’t go, we don’t go. Mr. Allbritton was chosen the First Man of the Year at McClendon personally by preacher Savoie and first one to be chosen person of the week. Mr. Allbritton served nearly five years during World War II in Army Infantry. He was in first wave of troops landing on Normandy Beach and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He fought on thru France and Germany until V.E. Day. Mr. Allbritton was honorably discharged September 24, 1945 with several medals. Mr. Allbritton was preceded in death by daughter, Carol Jean Allbritton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Allbritton; brothers, Earl and Jack Allbritton; sisters, Loucille Joyner and Mozelle Legg; granddaughter, Rachael Allbritton; daughter-in-law, June Allbritton; and special inspirational nephew, Bobby Allbritton.

Survivors include wife and sweetheart of 64 years, Beatrice Allbritton; sons, Jim Allbritton and wife Sarah, and Teddy Allbritton and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Jamie Allbritton, Justin Allbritton and wife Mandy, Timothy Allbritton, Mandy Taylor and husband Terry; step granddaughter, JoAnna Calhoun; great grandchildren, Austin and Dylan Taylor, Jaycee and Abigail Allbritton and their mother Bonnie, and Joci Allbritton; brother, Joe Allbritton and wife Florence; sisters, Aline McCarty and Annie Phillips and husband Lawrence; in-laws, Gloria Allbritton, Inez Anding, Vivian Bennett and husband Frank, Ray Anding and wife Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Allbritton, Justin Allbritton, Timothy Allbritton, Terry Taylor, Ronnie Allbritton, Danny Wink, Marvin Wink and Randy McCarty.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Wilhite, Johnnie Wilhite, David Reagan, Greg Reagan, Chris Reagan, Randy Anding, Albo Anding, Charles Legg, Robert Legg, Jack McCarty, Royce Allbritton, Steve Allbritton, Robert Williams and members of his Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Activities at McClendon Baptist Church.
