Funeral services for James E. “Woody” Boyles, 72, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Swartz with Rev. Jeff Smart and Mr. Garrison Griffith officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Boyles passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at home with his family. He was a Civil Engineer and he retired from Riverwood. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Swartz, where he was a member of the Bob Hitt Sunday School Class. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a loving husband, faithful father, and generous grandfather. He enjoyed summer baseball and all the sports involved with his grandchildren and was an avid LSU fan.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randal Lee Boyles.

Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Wanda Ruple Boyles; children, Carol Dark and husband Steve, Jim Boyles, Susan Mims and husband Michael, and Kayla Brown and husband Joseph, all of Monroe, LA; brother, Wayne Boyles and wife Barbara of Monroe, LA; sisters, Marie Tarpley of West Monroe, LA and Joan Sexton of Batesville, AR; and grandchildren, Neal Smith, Joey Smith, Becca Dark, Randy Dark, Cooper Mims, and C. J. Mims.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Cupit, Michael Davis, Mark Lockard, Jake Brown, Doug Nielsen, and Grant Griffith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Thorn, Jack Brantly, Barney Tucker, Eddie McGowen, Harold White, Wayne Van, Ray Alford, and the members of his Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Swartz.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Swartz, 1983 Hwy 139. Monroe, LA, 71203.
