Funeral services for James Earl Jones, 80, of Monroe will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 29, 2008, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA, with Rev. Charles Stokes and Rev. Tracy Ferris officiating. Burial will be in Transport Cemetery near Dodson, LA.

Mr. Jones died October 26, 2008 at St. Francis North Hospital. He was born in Fal in Vernon Parish, LA and a life-long resident of Monroe. Mr. Jones was retired from Texas Gas Company after 39 years. He was a member of the Northgate Church in Monroe. His passion was witnessing to people for Jesus and missions. Mr. Jones’s Christian values of integrity, honesty, and character meant the most to him. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Jones was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Taircy Jones; and brothers, Carmel and Marvin Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Iris Claire Jones; children, Bonnie Stokes and husband Charles, Roland Jones and wife Donna, and Bryan Jones; sister, Hazel Louise Jones; nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jonathan Stokes, Bryn Jones, Andrew Stokes, Cory Jones, and James Chatman, Robert Wright and Paul May.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 28, 2008, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to the Northgate Church in Monroe.
