Jennifer Bell Taylor

September 1, 1946 — September 12, 2022

Jennifer Lyn Bell Taylor passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Delhi Hospital in Richland parish after a two year battle with metastatic breast cancer and complications from covid.

Mrs. Taylor was born September 1, 1946, in the St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, La. After graduating valedictorian from Mangham High School 1964, she attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she completed her degree in Literary Arts in 1968.

On September 2, 1966, she married her husband of 51 years, John Howell Taylor of Baton Rouge, where they would remain active community members for the next 32 years. While in Baton Rouge, Jennifer became the director of the Louisiana Senior Olympics, an activity she always remembered with great fondness. She was also active in the Junior League of Baton Rouge, as well as her bridge club comprised of many of her closest friends.

In 1998, she and her husband John moved to her childhood home of Mangham, LA to be close to Jennifer’s parents, Robert “Bob” and Faye Bell. She then began teaching English at Riverfield Academy, where she also managed the publication of the yearbook. She would later teach English at Mangham High School, where she would sponsor multiple school organizations including snap dragons and Beta. Jennifer truly loved academics and being an educator and mentor to her students.

Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her husband, John Taylor and her sister, Lisa Bell Burns Gregorie.

She is survived by her brother, Robert “Bubba” Bell III and wife Judie of Mangham; two sisters-in-law, Vicky Bassetti of New Orleans and Ellen "Bebe" Baird of Chicago; her children, Brunson Taylor and wife Lori of Baton Rouge, Charlotte Ramirez and husband Josh of Burleson, Texas, and her late sister’s son, Cole Gregorie and wife Beth of Mangham, LA. She also leaves behind the families of four nieces, Ceres Kitchens and husband Byron of New Orleans (children: Peyton and Gus), Emy Traylor and husband Toby of Monroe (children: Sage and Gray), Victoria Bassetti of New York City and Ellen Baird of New Orleans. She was a loving grandmother to four granddaughters, Chloe and Mona Faye Taylor, Mary Elizabeth Gordon, and Lisa Bell Gregorie, as well as her beloved “Wiggers Boys” David Michael, Joseph Paul, and John Luke.

Mrs. Taylor had a great love of the arts, nature, and travel. She loved being with her family and friends, and always took joy in entertaining the friends of her children who often made her house home.
