Funeral services for Mr. Jerry H. Emory, 72, of West Monroe will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 1, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Jerry Salisbury and Rev. Marshall Douglas officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery.

Mr. Emory was born August 3, 1936 in Monroe, LA and passed away January 30, 2009 at Glenwood Hospital. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a Quarantine officer with 36 years of service. Jerry graduated from West Monroe High School in 1955, attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe and Southeastern University in Hammond, LA. Jerry loved his wife, Barbara, of 47 years, his children, grandchildren, and friends. He also loved horses, rodeos, football, and rabbit hunting. Jerry married his longtime rodeo sweetheart, Barbara Cloyd in 1961. Together they had 5 beautiful children and 10 grandchildren. He was so proud of all of them. Jerry and Barbara own Happy Acres Mobile Park and Patsy’s Big Top. Mr. Emory was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. and Ruby Emory and his father and mother in-law, Oliver O. and Louise Cloyd.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Terry Lenard and husband, Keith, Rhonda Smith and husband, Tim, Jay Emory and wife, Cammie, Patsy Hutto and husband, Luther, and Janice Emory; grandchildren, Renee Smith, David Smith, Jerryd Emory, Brian Smith, Olivia Cage, Shawna McManus, Scott Cage, Whitson Emory, Robert Emory, and Joslee “Josie” Emory; brother, Edwin Emory and wife, Norma; sister, Patsy Banks and husband, Billy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Harold Snowden, Bill Blackstock, L. V. Kane, Joey Redmond, Bobby Walker, Jimmy Dennig, and Kevin Mathus.

Honorary pallbearers will be I.H Tidwell, Bo Holcomb, Blondie Arrant, Ralph Robinson, Ralph Brown, Bill Nolan, Tracy Womack, and Ellis McDonald.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Memorials may be made to the West Monroe Methodist Protestant Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
