John "Buck" Baker

Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville, LA John L. “Buck” Baker Oak Ridge, LA Services for Mr. John L. “Buck” Baker. 78 of Oak Ridge, LA will be 2 PM Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Claud Hughes officiating. Internment to follow in Oak Ridge Episcopal Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville, LA. Mr. Buck was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, and was presently serving as an Alderman of the town of Oak Ridge. He was employed by International Paper Co. for 38 years working in the Bastrop mill before transfering to Natchez, MS mill in 1950, he retired on March 1, 1985. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a Tech Sgt. From 1951-1955. Mr. Buck was preceded in death by his parents H. A. Baker and Gladys Reese Baker, 3-brothers Everett Baker, William Reese Baker and Hugh F. Baker, and a sister Betty Lou Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Earline Brown Baker of Oak Ridge, LA; A son John Frederick Baker and his wife Beth of Lake St. John, LA and a daughter Freda Dyess and Her husband Randy of Columbia, MS; brother Ben E. “Sonny” Baker of Oak Ridge, LA; granddaughter Kelly Dyess Hurst and her husband Zack and a great grandson Zeke Hurst all of Columbia, MS and several nieces and nephews. Palbearers will be Bill Baker, Mike Baker, Rickey Baker, Howard Bailey, Jr., Earl W. Baker, Emmett L. Brown, III, James Mayo and Josh Callaway. Honorary Pallbearers are Earl Hogan, Gerald McLendon, Bubba Stevenson and Johnny Fitch. Visitation is from 5-7 PM Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the funeral home.
