Graveside services for John Thomas “Tommy” McJunkins will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe with Rev. Weldon Bares officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, La.

Tommy was born April 24, 1953 in Tampa, FL and died January 30, 2008 in Monroe, LA at the age of 54.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Willard McJunkins and step-father, Rex Bullock

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Patricia Trimble McJunkins; son, John Thomas McJunkins, Jr.; mother, Sue Bullock all of Monroe, La.; step-mother, Betty McJunkins of Shreveport, LA; brothers, Tim McJunkins and wife, Becky of Longview, TX and Trent McJunkins and wife, Lori of Monroe, LA; sisters, Sarah McAbee of Hartselle, AL and Joni Lindsay and husband, Jeff of Mooringsport, LA; father and mother-in-law, Dan and Betty Trimble of Monroe, La.; brother-in-law, Michael Trimble of Derby, CT; sister-in-law, Peggy Estopinal and husband, Ryan of Nashville, TN; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends beyond count.

He enjoyed his family and set aside every Sunday night as Father-and-Son-time, strictly enforced and richly beneficial to both father and son, among those highlights were going to the movies together.

Tommy was an entrepreneur, starting two businesses and the managing partner of a third business. He first started McJunkins Tire Center in Monroe in 1980, and then in 1987 started Corporate Computing, Inc. of Monroe. Most recently he, along with partners, acquired and sold Diamond Dodge of Bastrop, LA

He was very involved in law enforcement in Ouachita Parish, graduating from the Police Academy at Northeast Louisiana University. He served on the Monroe Police Reserves, Ouachita Parish Sheriff Reserves and the Marshall’s office of the City of Monroe all at the same time.

Because of his desire to help people, Tommy was drawn to public service and in 1995 ran successfully for Ouachita Parish Police Juror. He was reelected, without opposition, for a second term in 2000 and resigned in 2001 to devote more time to his family and business.

Tommy was a member of the Lea Joyner United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA. He was an enthusiastic flyer of powered parachutes, having flown in numerous meets around the country. He also loved dirt-bike racing and participated in this sport for many years.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, La.









In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Computer Lab at Ouachita Christian School 7065 Highway 165 North Monroe, Louisiana 71203

The family would like to give special thanks to his special friends David and Kathy Tadlock, Sam and Lisa Birmingham and Glenn and Tammy Robinson; and to his girls as he called them, Debbie Adams, Wendy Gentry and Cathy Mulhearn.
