Graveside services for Julia Lee Slaughter Stubbs will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 27, at the Old Monroe City Cemetery, with Rev. William Sheffield officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service, from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, 2308 Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mrs. Stubbs was born June 7, 1912, in Defuniak Springs, FL to Dow Perry Slaughter and Leila Owens Slaughter. Her father was a Methodist minister and District Superintendent. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Stubbs; her parents, and her sisters and brother, Gladys Slaughter Lee, Mary Holt Hand, and Dow Perry Slaughter, Jr.

Mrs. Stubbs is survived by three nieces and nephews, Anne Lee Moore, William Lee Hand, III, and Jack G. Hand, Jr.; seven great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Stubbs was a graduate of Huntingdon College. During her life, Mrs. Stubbs worked as a schoolteacher and later as an accountant for an automobile agency in Montgomery, AL. On April 14, 1960, she married Charles F. Stubbs who died in February 13, 2006. During their married life, they resided in Mobile, AL, Hartford, CT, and Monroe, LA.
