Marguerite CascioFuneral services for Marguerite Cascio, 92, of Monroe will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 25, 2014, at St. Matthews Catholic Church with Reverend Richard Norsworthy and Reverend Joe Puthuppally officiating. Interment will follow at St. Matthews Mausoleum.Mrs. Cascio was born August 18th, 1922. Mrs. Cascio died peacefully, Monday, September 22, 2014, at her home.Mrs. Cascio was a resident of Monroe and a retired restauranteur. Mrs. Cascio was the matriarch of the Cascio family. She and her husband, Tony Cascio, opened Tony’s Redwood Lounge and Restaurant in 1953. In 1955 they joined Tony’s brother, Joe Cascio, became partners, and opened the Italian Village. In 1959 they joined his brother Joe and his wife Josephine, and built Paragon Supper Club. Then, in 1964, he joined his brothers Joe David, and Jack, Sr., and opened the Chateau Restaurant. Marguerite “Memaw” Cascio enjoyed cooking for her family and looked forward to a gathering at her home on Sundays. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Cascio was a two time cancer survivor and a supporter of the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Cascio was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Cascio; parents, Leon and Josephine Ippolito; granddaughter, Jessica Stone; sister, Josephine Chimeno, and brother Anthony Ippolito. Survivors include Victor Charles Cascio, son; Anthony Charles Cascio, grandson; Sophie Webb, granddaughter; Mattie Webb, granddaughter; niece, JoAnn Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Freddie Cascio, Sal Petito, Jeffrey Fontana, John Fontana, Joe David Cascio III, Carter Cascio. Honorary pallbearers will be Stevie Cascio, Chad Fontana, Joe David Cascio II, Johnny Cascio, Pat Riley and Victor David Cascio, Jr.Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 PM, September 24, 2014, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, Louisiana. A vigil wake will be held at 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe.The family wishes to extend their thanks to Mrs. Cascio’s sitters, Linda Kay Williams, Virginia Johnson and Laura Mitchell.
