A celebration of the life for Mr. Marion M. Barkley, 70, of Monroe, LA formerly of Sumter, SC will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 28, 2009 in the chapel of Louisiana War Veteran’s Home with Pastor Mike Back officiating.
Mr. Barkley retired from the United States Army after twenty years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Sudie Barkley and brother William Barkley.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Arlette Barkley; children, Mike Barkley of Monroe, David Barkley and wife Sandy of Shreveport, LA, Annette and husband C.C. Flanagan of Monroe; three granddaughters, Kendra, Lauren, and Andria; one grandson, Joshua; two great grandchildren, Christopher Lee and Jessa Lynn Renee; two brothers, Archie and James Barkley; and sister, Margaret Launius.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Veteran’s Home, the 5th floor nursing staff at St. Francis North, Hospice Care of Louisiana, and a special thank you to J. Dean Stockstill, M.D. for their compassionate care.
