Martha Spillers Schu

Martha Spillers Schu, born Martha Ann Wilbanks on August 11, 1942, joined her Heavenly Father on January 11, 2018. Martha was a lifelong resident of West Monroe and attended West Monroe High School. She retired from Safeway to go on to work for Dr. Donna Donald for sixteen years. Selfless, Martha spent her life caring for others. Martha lived life to the fullest; she loved to travel, to spend time with her family, and to celebrate her love of Christ with her church. Her greatest joy besides her grandchildren was enjoying nature on her front porch.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Bethel Dora Wilbanks; and her late husband of forty-nine years, Fred Richard Spillers, Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Schu; her children, Renee Tull and husband Hack, Fred Richard Spillers, Jr., Lorri Weaver and husband Todd and Lisa Underwood and husband Carey; her siblings, Randy Wilbanks and wife Glenda, Betty Gaddis and husband Larry, Bertha Culbertson and husband Bob, Debbie McKnight and husband Jimmy and Jackie Wilbanks and wife Linda; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Caleb, Trey, Kent, Garrett, Hannah, Connor, Nate, Amber, Leah and Emma; and a host of great grandchildren and extended family.

Services will be held in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with the funeral following at 3:00 PM with Bro. Martin Williams and Judge Charles Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kent Thurston, Garrett Franks, Nathan Franks, Caleb Smith, Connor Underwood and Colin Mull.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris McKnight, Casey McKnight, Delbert Wilbanks and Keith Wilbanks.
