Funeral mass, celebrating the life of Mary Jo Butler, of Monroe, LA, will be held on October 30, 2021, at 11 AM, at Our Lady of Fatima in Monroe, LA, with Father Paul officiating. Mary Jo left this world suddenly to be with her Savior at the age 67.
Mary Jo was an honorable and devoted homemaker and raised two beautiful children and supported and loved her family immensely. She treasured her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She will be remembered for her sharp and quick wit, and for her enthusiastic interest in the news and current events that she loved to share. Every spring she looked forward to gardening and planting her flowers. She also enjoyed interior decorating. Her minimalist design style of simplicity and cleanliness was timeless and calming. Mary Jo had many talents and skills and enjoyed sharing these gifts with others, especially her passion of cooking. She was a remarkable and fabulous cook, and she loved preparing and creating delicious meals for her family and friends.
She attended ULM out of high school and later pursued her dreams by completing three years with honors in the School of Culinary Arts with an emphasis on Hotel Hospitality in Culinary Management at St. Louis College.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Collie Shambro, and her stepfather, Beck Love. She is survived by her two daughters, Carmela Nugent of Monroe, LA, and Brittany Butler of Omaha, NE; and five grandchildren Corbin, Tristan, Eli, and Brody of Monroe, and Brielle of Omaha; her mother, Mary Ann Love; and four siblings, Debbie Gailhard and (husband) Jim of West Monroe, and Lynn Love of Little Rock, AR, and Becky Landrum and (husband) John of Monroe, and Bill Love and (wife) Hope of West Monroe; and a host of nieces and nephews and uncles and aunts, and other cherished relatives and friends.
Mary Jo will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit and for her love of God. She will be greatly and deeply missed and will forever be in our in hearts.
