Mary Jo Davis Ellis

A private family celebration will be held at graveside for our beloved mother, Mary Jo Ellis, 90, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2015.Mary Jo was born in Russellville, Arkansas, September 21, 1925. She graduated from Tallulah High School and LSU. She and James married on May 6, 1950, raising their three children, Lisa, Libby, and Jim. Jo was an avid golfer and bridge player. Mary Jo went to be with the “love of her life” and husband, James on Saturday, October 3, 2015. She is survived by her children: daughter, Lisa Moore and husband Terry of West Monroe, LA; daughter, Libby Ellis of Savannah, GA; and son, Dr. Jim Ellis and wife Beth of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Wes Tichenor and wife Jackie, Stuart Tichenor and wife Jennifer, Will Ellis and wife Lauren, Katherine Ellis and Brad Ellis; great grandchildren, Gracie, Wesley, James, Jackson, and Graham. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, son-in-law, Terry Moore and “second son”, Bernard Sager.We would like to express our sincere and special thanks to Jim’s wife, Beth, and the staff and residents at The Gardens at Eastside in Greenville, South Carolina for the love and devotion shown to our mother. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to her great grandson’s foundation, “Jackson’s Hope”, P. O. Box 1552, West Monroe, LA 71294, a non-profit organization to help families in need with children’s medical expenses.
