Memorial services for Matthew S. Cameron, 45, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at First West with Rev. Randy Impson officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.Matthew was born October 15, 1969 and went to heaven Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center. Matthew was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashlynn Mercer Cameron.In Matthew’s words . . . “I am a Husband, Father, Christ Follower, Artist, Geek, Leader, Innovator, Entrepreneur, Internet Professional, Bike Hobbyist, Outdoor Enthusiast, Geocacher, Agile Thinker, Idea generator, Serial Early Adopter, Louisianan, Avid Technologist… I am one of the crazy ones, the misfits...the rebels...the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes, the one who sees things differently. I am not fond of rules, and have no patience for the status quo.”Matthew was Director - Strategy and Business Development for CenturyLink, Current president of the YMCA board, past president of the Downtown Monroe Renaissance, founding member of Tech By 20, Founding Partner and President of Idea Coterie, 2014 graduate of Leadership Louisiana, Governor appointed Entrepreneur on the Louisiana Innovation Council, Mayoral appointment to Downtown Economic Development District Board, and much more. . . Matthew had a passion for using innovation and technology to grow economic development.Matthew enjoyed watching and encouraging his boys. He was actively involved in the Portico Church family. Matthew always loved having a houseful of family and friends surrounding him and had the gift of bringing people together. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Patricia Mercer Cameron; children, Connor Allen Cameron, Garrett Stevens Cameron and Parker Martin Cameron; parents Syd and Sara Cameron; sister, Betsy Cameron; brother, Malcolm Cameron and wife Karen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sonny and Mattie Mercer; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of close family and friends.Matthew was a faithful husband and loving father, a leader, philanthropist and friend to many. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
