Funeral Services for Mrs. Mattie Lee Gewin Rutledge, 97, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Bo Horn and Rev. Howard Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Rutledge Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Rutledge was born on June 28, 1912 and passed away on December 30, 2009 in West Monroe, LA. She was a member of the Woodlawn Methodist Church in West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Rutledge is preceded in death by her husband, Jame Alfred Rutledge,( they would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on January 1, 2010); son, Gary Wayne Rutledge; parents, William and Della Gewin and three sisters, Neva Arrant, Iva Barfoot and Cleora Johnston.
Survivors include her children, Roger Rutledge and Gail Rutledge Wheelis and husband, David; grandchildren, Mike Wheelis and wife, Janice, Don Wheelis and wife, Carolyn, Sheri Lindsey and husband, Todd, Denise Rutledge, Brenda Hilburn and husband, Todd and Wayne Rutledge and wife, Kathy; eleven great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rutledge’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Wayne Rutledge, Todd Hilburn, Mike Wheelis, Phillip Wheelis, Patrick Wheelis, Cody Warner and Adam Wheelis. Honorary Pallbearer will be Don Wheelis.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 1, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA
