Mavis “Pete” Foster was born September 1, 1931 and passed away July 25, 2022. She attended Highland Baptist Church, where she was a parishioner and Sunday School member. She also proudly served the community as a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. Mrs. Foster was a devout Christian and praised God in all that she did. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family. For many years, she worked as a nurse for a local surgeon, and she absolutely loved being a nurse and helping people. Mrs. Foster was always making delicious meals and treats for her family, usually with fresh food right from her own garden. She loved watching the birds feed and play on her back patio, especially the hummingbirds, but she cherished every creature, great and small. Mrs. Foster leaves behind a legacy of true kindness, pure faithfulness, and unconditional devotion. She continues to be so very loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents, Print and Bessie Ross; her husband, D. B. “Buck” Foster, Jr.; sister, Earnestine Lord; brother, Thurmon Ross; and daughter, Libby Pouncey.
Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Foster and wife Lisa, and Dale Foster; granddaughter, Kristin Butler and husband Tim; two grandsons, Shane Pouncey and Jordan Pouncey and wife Kelsey; and four great grandchildren, Nora Butler, Joshua Butler, Rae’Lyn Pouncey, and Asher Pouncey.
