Graveside services for Merle Alexander Adams will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Gregg Riley officiating. Services are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Adams was born March 22, 1913 in Maxton, NC. She died in Monroe, LA where she had lived for 73 years.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Adams, Jr.; mother, Emma Alexander; father, Samuel Alexander; and brother, Turner Alexander. She is survived by her son, Jay Adams and wife Coy of Monroe, LA; daughter, Kay Cole and husband David of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Bill Adams of Pensacola, FL, Pete Martel and wife Nichole of Baltimore, MD, and Erin Martel of Baltimore, MD.
Mrs. Adams was President of the Junior League and the Monroe Garden Club. She was active in the Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century and the DAR. She was a very active member of Grace Episcopal Church where her favorite activity was serving on the Flower Guild.
The family requests that memorials be made to Grace Episcopal Church or your favorite charity.
