Sol was born in Warsaw Poland on February 2, 1926. He was denied freedom because of his faith and was a survivor of numerous Nazi concentration camps. He was finally liberated from Dachau Concentration Camp in April of 1945. Shortly after he met the love of his life Tola Baron and married her on November 11, 1945. Together they started a new life and had a son, Joe Rosenberg and then migrated to the United States in 1949 to Monroe. Sol had a humble beginning in the scrap metal business working very hard to support his family. Through the years he has built up Sol’s Pipe and Steel Company, which is now known all over the world. Sol was well known for his generosity, philanthropy, and contributions to numerous organizations. He never refused any cause in need. Sol was a past president and board member of the Temple B’Nai Israel, member of the B’Nai Brith, the Temple Men’s Club, charter founder of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Houston Holocaust Museum in Houston, TX, member of the Chamber of Commerce, loyal supporter and member of the Booster Club at ULM, and a recipient of the Kitty DeGree Lifetime Business Achievement Award in 2006. He enjoyed going to football games and was an avid golfer and member of Bayou Desiard Country Club where he made a hole in one at the age of 81. There is a book written called “Sol’s Story” by Richard Chardkoff about his life during the Holocaust.

Sol was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters who perished in the Holocaust; and his loving wife and soul mate of 60 years, Tola Baron Rosenberg.

Survivors include his children, Joe Rosenberg and wife Pam; Jackie Rosenberg and wife Diane, Herman Rosenberg, Jeannie Wermuth and her husband Gary, and Terri Rosenberg, grandchildren Asher, Leah, and Ariel Rosenberg, Jonathan and Rachel Rosenberg, Jessica and Aaron Rosenberg, Noah Meicler and Lizzy, and Ash and Elle Wermuth.

A quote from Sol, “I love the United States. I’m a citizen. I’m proud to be an American, and I’m a good American. Nowhere in the whole world did I find happiness. I find happiness in America.”

Sol will be remembered for his strength, courage, kindness, and generosity. He never met a stranger, loved everyone, and made a lasting impression because he treated everyone equally.
