Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Ann Impson, 81, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 15, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA with Rev. Randy Impson and Rev. David Worthington officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dot was a longtime resident of the Monroe area. She was born February 25, 1929, in Nacogdoches, TX to Fred H. and Lola Wilson, and passed away on August 11, 2010. Mrs. Impson was the younger sister of Billie Wilson. Dorothy spent most of her life in Huttig, AR, where she met and married the love of her life, Lloyd Aaron Impson, on June 6, 1953. She attended Hendrix College, Peabody, and Mississippi College and obtained a Masters Degree Plus 30 in Education. Dedicating her life to teaching the visually impaired, she taught at the Arkansas School for the Blind and in the Monroe City School System.

Dorothy was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing card games and socializing with her friends and family. Dot is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Aaron Impson, and her sister, Billie Wilson.

Survivors include her children, Debbie Impson, Randy Impson and wife, Denise, and Cheryl Gilley and husband, Keith; grandchildren, Tiffany O’Neal and husband, Justin, Aaron Impson, Shelly Williams and husband, Ben, Vikki O’Neal and husband, Chris, Tracy Telano and Lee Gilley; great grandchildren, Evan Williams and Sarah O’Neal.

Pallbearers will be Ted Impson, John Impson, Aaron Impson, Lee Gilley, Justin O’Neal, and Chris O’Neal.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Memorial gifts may be made to the North Monroe Baptist Church.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Compassus, Kim McCarty and Tommie Nolan for their dedicated care and service.
