Funeral services for Mrs. Naomi Lee Holloway McGraw, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 25, 2009, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. David Worthington and Rev. Danny Hawthorne officiating. Interment will follow at Crowville Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. McGraw was born August 6, 1923, and died August 23, 2009, at the age of 86.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 62 years, J. D. McGraw, Sr. She was also preceded in death by three grandsons, Houston Todd Roberts, Michael Anthony McGraw, and Scott Burns; one son-in-law, Houston Roberts; two brothers, Barney and Benny Holloway; two sisters, Lavelle Sanders and Zelma Ashley; and her parents, Michael and Willie Estelle Holloway.

Survivors include four children, Shirley Roberts Kinard and husband Ron, J. D. McGraw, Jr. and wife Irma, Roger McGraw and wife Myra, and Sharon Burns and husband Bill; three sisters, Dora Hemphill, Linda Sparks, and Judy Harris; three brothers, C. W. Holloway, Charles Holloway, and Michael O. Holloway; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews..

Mrs. McGraw leaves behind a legacy of dedication, strength, and honor. Her family was the apple of her eye. She worked continually all of her adult life for her family and made them happy and productive. In her opinion, the most noble profession on Earth was mother, wife, and homemaker.

J. D. and Naomi lived all of their married years on the farm near Delhi, LA. In later years when their health started failing, they moved to Monroe to be near their children.

Naomi loved attending her church, North Monroe Baptist Church, and her Sunday School Class, Agape.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the many friends and family who have been so wonderful in assisting Naomi and her family. A very special thank you goes to Mary Wesley and Hospice Compassus employees Daphne, the nurse, and Vickie, the nurse’s assistant.
