Norman Ray “Sonny” StephensMulhearn Funeral HomeWest Monroe, LA Funeral Services for Mr. Norman Ray “Sonny” Stephens, 76, of West Monroe, LA will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 12, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Randy Burdeaux and Cindy Bimle officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery, West Monroe.Mr. Stephens was born July 3, 1938 in Jackson, MS and passed away February 9, 2015 in West Monroe, LA. He was a plant superintendent at Riverwood International and retired as a consultant with Cybertech, Inc. He was instrumental in starting Howard Prince Gun Range in Oak Grove, LA and serving on the Board of Directors. Mr. Stephens was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Eros. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, granddaddy, brother and friend. Sonny enjoyed sports, especially watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play ball and cheer. He loved being in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening and working his bird dogs with all of his family. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Rosa Stephens; brothers, Odis Lee “Doodle” Stephens and James Columbus “Sammy” Stephens; son, Jeff Stephens; first wife, Carolyn Sue Parker Stephens; and brother-in-law, David Petrus.Survivors include his wife, Lena B. Stephens; sons, Keith Stephens and wife Tonya, and Greg Stephens and wife Sonya; daughter, Mickey Stephens deLaup and husband Guy; step sons, John Becker and Robert Becker and wife Cathy; step daughter, Valerie Simpson; grandchildren, Jessica Siddon, Zach Stephens and wife Haley, Lauren Stephens, Michelle Hultberg and husband Jordan, Stephen deLaup, Jackie Stephens, Gregory Stephens and Jeffery Stephens and wife Molly; step grandchildren, Morgan Becker, Noah Becker, Crystal Lett, Saxton Becker and Maverick Becker; great grandchildren, Jace Siddon and Olivia Stephens; step great grandchild, Cooper Becker; sisters, Ginger Petrus and Lois Marionneaux and husband Ronnie; brother, Gene Stephens and wife Claudine; sisters-in-law, Minnie Stephens Whitney and Dorothy “Dot” Stephens McGaha; special friend, Joan Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Pallbearers will be Zach Stephens, Stephen deLaup, Jeffery Stephens, Saxton Becker, Bobby Petrus, Eric Stephens, Mike Stephens and Darryl Williams.Honorary Pallbearers will be Gregory Stephens, J.P. Wyatt, Troy Lynch, Johnny Miller, Edward Stephens, Jerry Philley, Roger Buchan, Wayne Buchan and Calvin McGowanVisitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
