Paul William Bode, 89, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017.

Paul was born on July 21, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Frances Bode.

Paul moved to Monroe, Louisiana, in 1975. He was retired from work with Jesse Hearn and Sons and the J.O. Bailey Construction Company.

His greatest joys were to always have a project going and to take his wife square dancing. He was a faithful member of the North Monroe Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in all church activities.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruth Virginia Welch Sykes Bode. He is also survived by his children, Denise (Michael) Bruck, Karon (John) Lobrovich, Frank (Debra) Sykes, Tim (Cindy) Sykes, Wayne (Glenda) Sykes, and Ninette (Danny) Guidry; brother, Robert (Lin) Bode; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Jane Bode; parents, William and Francis Bode; sister, J.C. Bode; son, Bruce Bode; and daughter, Victoria Bode.

The family will hold a visitation on Sunday, October 8th, at 1 p.m. in the chapel at the North Monroe Baptist Church of Monroe. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Warren Eckhardt officiating. Mulhearn Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
