A Mass of Christian Burial for Philip P. Leon, Sr., 81, will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Martina, Rev. Sebastian Kallarackal, and Rev. James Thekkemury as the celebrants of the Mass. Interment will follow at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.Philip passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 7, 2014. Philip was born in Maringouin, LA.Mr. Leon was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mary Leon; brothers, Anthony, Guy, and Laurence Leon; and sister, Estelle Leon Miletello.Mr. Leon is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Irene Mary Pepitone Leon; daughter, Ramona Leon Watkins and husband Thomas of Hammond, LA; son, Philip Victor Leon; grandson, Philip Damian Leon of London England; sister-in-law, Sally Ann Pepitone; brothers, Charles and Frank; sister Josephine Legier; niece, Theresa Miletello Curry and husband Edward; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.Mr. Leon truly loved the served Lord for over fifty years. He led weekly rosary groups at several churches. He was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister of communion at church, nursing and family homes. Philip was also a lector at church. He attended daily Mass and even cooked breakfast for the local priests.Mr. Leon was a supervisor for Sunbeam Baking Company. He will be missed as a loving brother, father, grandfather, and loving husband.Pallbearers will be Philip Damian Leon, Linh Nguyen, Dr. Mitchel Miletello, Edward Curry, Jody Lofton, Thomas Watkins, Larry Holzer, and Ed Dinger.
