Richard M. Drew, Jr.

Richard Morgan Drew Jr. was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on November 30, 1943. He grew up in West Monroe and graduated from West Monroe High School in 1961. He earned a business degree from Louisiana Tech University. After a successful career in sales, he made a professional change to that of a Petroleum Landman, a career he enjoyed until retirement. Richard loved hunting, fishing, and recently, working in his flower garden. His favorite times were the hours spent with his family. He was a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen, a supporter of the Former Texas Ranger Foundation, and member of the National Rifle Association. He had a strong interest in Native American and Texas history, and was an amateur archeologist. He and his wife, Judy, have lived in Robson Ranch in Denton, Texas, since their retirement 14 years ago.

Richard passed away peacefully January 22 surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Drew, daughters, Stephanie Drew MacDowell and Carrie Denise Drew, stepchildren, Ken Wornat and Janet Wornat (Brian Ellstrom), grandchildren, Kristopher MacDowell, Drew Caviness, Hope Caviness, and Kiersten MacDowell, nephews, Blount (Susie) Armstrong and Drew Armstrong, nieces, Angie (Josh) Plemmons, and Tammy (Don) Rhyne, grandnieces and nephews, Aaron Armstrong, Stormi Gray, Bailey Evans, and Zane Rhyne.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Drew Horton, father, Richard Morgan Drew Sr., and sisters, Snow Drew Armstrong and Clara Dee Drew Austin, and brother-in-law, Keith Austin.

A graveside celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 1:00 PM, New Chapel Hill Cemetery, West Monroe, Louisiana.
