Robert Earl Pennington, age 70, resident of Germantown, Tennessee and husband of Margie Holloway Pennington, departed this life Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.
Funeral Services for Mr. Pennington will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Germantown Baptist Church. The officiating ministers will be Dr. Ken Story and Bro. Troy Styers. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday June 20, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Eros, Louisiana, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA. A visitation for Mr. Pennington will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the church. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Pennington was born April 2, 1948 in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of Guy Slater Pennington of Dalark, Arkansas and Sarah Andrews Pennington of El Dorado. He was married June 2, 1967 to the former Margie Holloway and was employed as a sales manager for Hillshire Farms before his retirement in December of 2009.
Mr. Pennington was a devoted and active member of Germantown Baptist Church. He served as Chairman of the Deacons, a Sunday School teacher, Brotherhood Director and with the Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He enjoyed fishing, nature and going on men’s mission trips.
Mr. Pennington is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margie Holloway Pennington of Germantown, TN; two sons, Col. Todd Pennington (Michelle) of Honolulu, HI, Dr. Perry Robert Pennington of Germantown, TN; two brothers, Guy Slater Pennington (Barbara) of Shreveport, LA, Don Pennington (Irma) of West Monroe, LA; his sister, Alice Pennington Hammett of West Monroe, LA; six grandchildren, Grace Pennington, Mercy Pennington, Nate Pennington, Emma Pennington, Benjamin Pennington, Sarah Kate Pennington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Apple Grove Alzheimer’s Residence, 3575 Hacks Cross Road, Memphis, TN 38125.
